If you're searching for SEA Math classes or SEA Math lessons for your child, you've probably already heard the advice: learn your tables.

And yes — that matters.

But if you've ever watched a child freeze up during a timed Math exam, you already know that knowing times tables and being able to use them under pressure are two very different things.

At Grade A Tutoring & Learning Centre, this is something we've seen firsthand over the years while working with SEA students in Barataria and across Trinidad. It's also one of the main reasons we developed our Times Tables Champion booklet.

The Real Problem: Speed and Recall

SEA Mathematics is a timed exam. Every minute matters, and students who struggle to recall their tables quickly often lose valuable time throughout the paper.

Think about it.

Long division, fractions, word problems, and mental Math all rely heavily on multiplication facts. If a student has to stop during a question to figure out 6 × 9, that interruption slows down the entire problem-solving process.

Now imagine that happening repeatedly across a full exam paper.

Many students know the content but still struggle to finish on time because their recall is not automatic.

Strong recall needs to be fast, confident, and immediate.

Don't Forget Division

This is another area where many students struggle — even students who seem strong with multiplication.

Multiplication and division are closely connected, but many children only practise one side of the equation.

For example, a child may know that:

8 × 7 = 56

but still hesitate when asked:

56 ÷ 7 = ?

That hesitation becomes a problem in areas like fractions, ratios, and word problems where quick thinking is important.

Real mastery means being able to move between multiplication and division facts smoothly and confidently.

What We Built — And Why

The Times Tables Champion booklet was developed right here at Grade A Tutoring & Learning Centre based on years of working with real SEA students.

This wasn't created overnight.

The activities were shaped by the common struggles we repeatedly saw students facing during SEA preparation. Over time, we refined the exercises to help students improve speed, recall, confidence, and fluency.

Whether your child attends our SEA classes in Barataria, joins our online lessons, or simply needs extra practice at home, this booklet was designed to support serious SEA Math preparation.

What's Inside the Booklet?

The booklet includes:

Fill-in-the-blank recall exercises to build fluency

Multiplication drills across all tables

Division challenge sections to strengthen fact recall in both directions

Repetitive practice designed to improve speed and confidence

The goal is simple:

By exam time, students should not have to stop and think about their tables — they should know them automatically.

The Bottom Line

If your child can recite times tables but still struggles to finish SEA Math papers on time, the issue may not be knowledge alone — it may be automatic recall.

And the good news is that automaticity is a skill that can be trained.

At Grade A Tutoring & Learning Centre, our SEA Math support focuses on practical preparation that helps students build both understanding and speed.

The Times Tables Champion booklet was created with that exact goal in mind: helping students move from simply knowing their tables to truly mastering them.
